Wall-to-Wall Studios Delivers Rebranding for The Ambassador Hotel

July 1, 2026

Wall-to-Wall Studios recently completed an integrated rebranding for The Ambassador Hotel, a storied Waikiki landmark that has welcomed guests and locals alike since opening its doors in 1968.  Built on the historic site of the famed Lau Yee Chai restaurant, The Ambassador Hotel grew up alongside an era that introduced the world to the warmth, charm, and grace of Hawaiian hospitality. Renowned for its iconic marquee sign, the property wanted to honor its mid-century heritage while signaling a modern evolution for today's travelers seeking an authentic Hawaiian escape.

W|W's initial deliverable included a comprehensive brand audit, strategy, and platform, which began with the Brand UnWorkshop supplemented with additional research and collaborative conversations.  The core strategy and brand platform are anchored in the property’s rich history and know-how, pairing nostalgic charm with modern sophistication. To help bridge the hotel’s past and present, W|W delivered a cohesive identity system designed to immerse guests in a distinct sense of place and included:

  • An updated brand identity that pays tribute to the original decades-old marquee signage through modern, refined typography.

  • A vibrant, fresh color palette tailored to complement the hotel’s updated interior decor, paired with a custom handmade collage pattern.

  • Strategic guidelines and collateral recommendations covering property signage, marketing materials, and a foundational Brand Style Guide.

W|W’s rebranding work for The Ambassador Hotel earned a Pele Gold Medal at the American Advertising Awards (AAF HawaiĘ»i).
