HAWAII COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
AMPLIFY THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
The Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) is a statewide philanthropic organization that brings together donors, nonprofits, and community partners to create lasting, positive change across the Hawaiian Islands through strategic grantmaking, partnerships, and advocacy. In a continuation of the 10+ year creative collaboration with HCF, W|W recently helped the Foundation navigate a rebranding initiative to better reflect the evolved organization of today while effectively reaching its stakeholder audiences. To develop HCF’s new brand platform (positioning, promise, story, and personas), W|W commissioned primary quantitative and qualitative research and led the HCF team through the Brand UnWorkshop to hear first-hand what a wide-ranging group of people (and thus perspectives) think and feel about the Foundation. The collective set of insights that emerged helped W|W craft an authentic and unassailable brand story for HCF, anchored on its commitment to Amplify the Power of Community.
The updated visual identity designed by W|W included subtle but important refinements to the logo mark and updated typography that resulted in a crisp, composed representation of the well-known brand. To extend the graphic toolkit, W|W worked with Hawaiian textile artist Dalani Tanahy and created a system of textural logos to lead the way in the new look, alongside a refreshed palette of colors.
