Wall-to-Wall Studios Rebrands Island Air Identity, Advertising, Website and Passenger Experience

September 9, 2014

When it comes to airline travel, everyone agrees it can be frustratingly complex: something has to give. Island Air is looking to change the game in Hawaii, to make inter-island travel as simple as it can be. Wall-to-Wall Studios was hired to develop the new brand strategy, identity system, advertising, marketing and to re-think the entire passenger experience, from online booking to boarding to baggage claim.

Many improvements have been made from customer service to operations. Upgraded conveniences like free, no-hassle WiFi, multiple charging stations and amenities at the gates (complimentary beverages, snacks, live entertainment, chair massages) have also been implemented. There are other surprises coming on the horizon, but the biggest improvement we hope to make is the customers' perception of air travel. Heads up:

Change is in the air.

Wall-to-Wall Studios Designs and Develops Website for the Silver Eye Center for Photography

September 8, 2014

Wall-to-Wall Studios designed & developed the website for The Silver Eye Center for Photography, a nationally-recognized, non-collecting institution exclusively dedicated to contemporary photography. Founded in 1985, Silver Eye has been at the forefront of celebrating photography, both as an expressive art form and as a medium that brings to light the telling details and larger stories that influence and inform an understanding of ourselves and the world. With a singular commitment to exhibiting and promoting contemporary photography and photo-based multimedia, Silver Eye is unique in Pittsburgh and the surrounding region.

Silver Eye began in 1979 as two separate organizations: Blatant Image Gallery, a cooperative gallery designed to provide exhibition space to local fine art photographers, and The Silver Eye Photographic Workshop, which brought nationally known photographers to Pittsburgh to exhibit their work and to conduct workshops. These two organizations merged in 1985 and became the Blatant Image/Silver Eye, which later changed to Silver Eye Center for Photography in 1992.

The responsively designed website was developed with the WordPress content management system and utilizes parallax scrolling to deliver an elegant user experience. The responsive design approach responds to the user’s behavior and environment based on screen size, platform and orientation by using a mix of flexible grids and layouts, images and an intelligent use of CSS media queries. As the user switches from their laptop to iPad to mobile device, the website automatically switches to accommodate for resolution, image size and scripting abilities.

Wall-to-Wall Studios Creates "Arch" Exhibit Design for Pittsburgh Airport

June 17, 2014

Working with the Allegheny County Airport Authority on its Airport Art Program, Wall-to-Wall Studios created the exhibit design for Arch, a 16-foot tall sculpture by artist Glenn Kaino. This sculpture was originally commissioned by the Andy Warhol museum to celebrate the city’s 250th anniversary and it was located on the corner of Fort Duquense Boulevard and Seventh Street in Downtown, Pittsburgh. The intention of the project was to develop historical content about bridges in the Pittsburgh region, uniting the history and progression of Pittsburgh bridge engineering with contemporary sculpture. With the support of The Heinz Endowments, the Office of Public Art and other stakeholders, Arch was restored and moved to the airport along with the companion educational component designed by Wall-to-Wall Studios. The Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania provided the important content related to area bridges that are connected to the artwork. Wall-to-Wall Studios Launches "Fix The Numbers" Integrated Campaign Supporting PA Pension Reform

June 3, 2014

Working with the Pennsylvania Municipal League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1900 as an advocate for Pennsylvania’s 3rd class cities, Wall-to-Wall Studios designed & developed an integrated awareness campaign titled "Fix The Numbers" in support of municipal pension reform in the Commonwealth. The campaign is designed to educate and advocate for the reform of Pennsylvania’s public safety employee pensions as part of a larger goal of restoring fiscal health to the state’s municipalities.

The integrated campaign includes a series of advertisements that help illustrate the impact of of escalating municipal pension obligations on communities. Critical public services, including additions/improvements to public safety, are being held at bay because of these legacy pension obligations.

The responsively designed website (www.FixTheNumbers.com) is the hub for all campaign activity. The website uses Google Maps to plot the distressed communities with a funded ratio of assets-to-liabilities, on an accrual basis, for fire and/or police pensions, between 50-69% (moderately distressed) and below 50% (severely distressed).

W|W designed and produced an animated motion-graphic video for the campaign that provides context to how this situation has occured. It isn't politics, it isn't propaganda... it is pure math and it doesn't work anymore.

Fix the Numbers advocates for the passage of Pennsylvania H.B. 1581 because the current pension structure for public safety employees, police officers and firefighters, is unsustainable.

This initative makes sense to us. If you agree, please visit www.FixTheNumbers.com and help make a difference by sending a letter to your legislators and sharing this important message.
